New Sight Charity
For 2011 we are proud to announce our support of charity ‘New Sight’. Founded by husband and wife, Henri & Joyce Samoutou, New Sight aims to set up an eye clinic with surgery in the Republic of Congo. The couple will move to the Congo in early 2012, along with their 3 children Cherissa, Ezra & Karis, to run the eye centre which will help thousands of people to see again. Henri is an ophthalmic technician with surgical skills and he will be able to perform eye surgery at the clinic. As a GP Joyce will run the administration of the centre as well as home school their 3 young children. It is estimated that 4 out of 5 people who are blind in the Congo, are blind as a result of cataract; a condition which will be easily treatable for a small fee with the new clinic in place. Henri & Joyce are changing their whole lives to help other people have a better quality of life and be able to see again, and we cannot think of anyone who we could be prouder to support.
In support of the charity we have launched a new dish on the menu at both Casa Mia Millennium and Casa Mia in Chapel Allerton. The new dish ‘Penne Alla Siciliana’ consists of fresh penne pasta, cooked with aubergines, cherry tomatoes, carrot puree, garlic and fresh red chilli, and £1 from each dish sold will be donated to New Sight.
